- Place filament on the spool
- Push filament through tube until it has reached the end and resistance is felt.
- On the screen, select the "Filament" button
- Click "Load"
- The printer will prompt you to push it forward until it extrudes. Click "retry" until filament is extruded from the printer
- Once the loading process is complete, click edit on the Filament screen
- Choose the correct material and color. DO NOT LEAVE ON ABS DEFAULT
- On the screen, select the "Filament" button
- Click "Unload"
- Wait for the printer to prompt you to pull the filament back, and do so by spinning the spool backwards.
- Remove the filament from the spool holder
- Push filament spool onto one of the four reels of the AMS
- Make sure the end of the filament is facing towards the middle, and coming from the bottom
- Push filament through the yellow part of the dark gray filament feeders. Push in the button after it initially enters, and push the filament through until the AMS starts pulling the filament on its own
- On the screen, select the "Filament" button
- Click on the correct number spool, then select "Edit"
- Choose the correct material and color. DO NOT LEAVE ON ABS DEFAULT
- On the screen, select the "Filament" button
- Click on the correct number spool
- If the "unload" button isn't grayed out, select it. If it is grayed out, just continue to the next step
- Roll up the spool until all of the filament has come out of the tube
- Remove the spool from the ams by pulling it off the reel
- Set the nozzle temperature to 200°C in OctoPrint.
- Wait for the nozzle to heat.
- Cut your filament at a 45° angle or steeper, it should have a pointed tip to make it easier to feed into hole after the extruder gear.
- Place your filament spool on the spool holder on the left side the printer.
- Guide your filament through the filament sensor to the left of the extruder. If it will not go through, try rotating your filament or cutting it again.
- Firmly grip the extruder lever to remove tension and push your filament through the holes.
- Once you meet resistance, continue to push your filament and watch the filament coming out of the hot end.
- Once the hot end is ejecting the color of filament you have loaded, remove the excess.
- Set the nozzle temperature to 0°C in OctoPrint unless you plan to print immediately after loading filament.
- Set the nozzle temperature to 200°C in OctoPrint.
- Wait for the nozzle to heat.
- Firmly grip the extruder lever and pull your filament until the end comes out of the filament sensor.
- Wrap your filament around your filament spool and remove it from the spool holder.
- Set the nozzle temperature to 0°C in OctoPrint.
- Set the nozzle temperature to 200°C in OctoPrint.
- Wait for the nozzle to heat.
- Cut your filament at a 45° angle or steeper, it should have a pointed tip to make it easier to feed into hole after the extruder gear.
- Place your filament spool on the spool holder above the printer.
- Guide your filament through the filament guide on the left side of the printer.
- Firmly grip the extruder lever and push your filament through the holes. If it will not go through the second hole, try rotating your filament or cutting it again.
- Once you meet resistance, continue to push your filament through and watch the filament coming out of the hot end.
- Once the hot end is ejecting the color of filament you have loaded, remove the excess.
- Set the nozzle temperature to 0°C in OctoPrint unless you plan to print immediately after loading filament.
- Set the nozzle temperature to 200°C in OctoPrint.
- Wait for the nozzle to heat.
- Firmly grip the extruder lever to relieve tension and pull your filament until the end comes out of the extruder.
- Wrap your filament around your filament spool and remove it from the spool holder.
- Set the nozzle temperature to 0°C in OctoPrint.
- If a green octopus is present on the printer screen, select "Disconnect" on the menu then select "YES" to confirm.
- Select "Filament" then either "Load Filament" or "Unload Filament".
- Select "PLA" unless you have been given permission to use another type of filament.
- Follow the instructions on the printer screen.
- Once you are done, click the "Connect" button near the top-left in OctoPrint to reconnect the printer.
