UTDesign Makerspace has a custom-made arcade cabinet located in the main floor. It is equipped with a mid-range gaming PC that can run most modern and emulated games. The main goal of this project is to encourage the creativity of our members by allowing them to create games and install them on our cabinet.
UTDesign Makerspace does not condone piracy. All games on our arcade cabinet are legally owned.
Members are required to follow all rules for our technology. Anyone who violates our rules may have their access removed or be banned from UTDesign Makerspace for any amount of time.
We ask that all members consider donating a highly requested game or $5.00 to access the arcade cabinet for a semester OR $20.00 to access the arcade cabinet for life. While we are also college students and understand money can be tight, your generosity allows us to buy more games and equipment for everyone to use. To donate, please put cash in our donation bin or contact an officer for other donation methods such as PayPal or Steam.
Donations are completely optional but always appreciated.
All events that want to use the arcade cabinet must pay a $10.00 per hour fee. This fee is mandatory as it helps us buy more games and equipment for everyone to use. Please fill out the standard event form to schedule an event using our arcade cabinet. Possible events include...
Some consoles and games have different controls than what are listed on the buttons. Use this guide to match in-game prompts with our arcade cabinet. If a console on our arcade cabinet is not listed here or a game has different controls than its console, please contact an officer.

Games can be easily added to the arcade cabinet. However, ownership requirements must be met depending on what category your game falls into. Depending on whether or not we own a copy of the requested game, you may need to purchase one for us yourself. Please contact an officer if you would like to add a game.
By purchasing a game for us to add to our arcade cabinet, you permanently forfeit ownership of the game to UTDesign Makerspace. We reserve the right to choose whether or not to reimburse you or return the game to you if requested.
Emulation may or may not be possible. We have a limited selection of arcade games that we legally own copies of. We will not accept ROM files or pirated games.
Our arcade cabinet can emulate a variety of retro and modern consoles. Please note that Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 3 titles are known to be laggy. We will need a physical or digital copy of the game. We will not accept ROM files or pirated games.
We will need a physical copy of the game or digital access to the game through a storefront like GOG.com or Humble Bundle. We will not accept executable files or pirated games.
Due to the different process for creating and submitting self-made games, please read this page.
We will need digital access to the game through Steam. We will not accept executable files or pirated games.
