The UTDesign Makerspace is a student-led organization. All of our officers are volunteer students at The University of Texas at Dallas.
This list was last updated at the beginning of the Spring 2023 semester. Officers that will be leaving at the end of the next long semester (Spring or Fall) are indicated with a ⏱️ icon. If you would like to join a committee or apply for an officer position, please fill out the committee application form.
Any officers who joined the UTDesign Makerspace team prior to 2023 may have a position not defined within the above roles. They are allowed to keep their current role until it is no longer needed or they are asked to retire. Such positions are marked with a ⚠️ icon.
The executive committee oversees the management of UTDesign Makerspace as a whole. This includes leading our officers, communicating with faculty advisors, managing our student organization registration with the Student Organization Center, and certain public relations. This is the only committee with only officers.

The President has the final say in most decisions and leads external communications. This role is great for those looking for experience with leading a large team and learning new technologies.
The Vice President assists committees and student organizations using the makerspace. This role is great for those looking for experience with leading a large team and learning new technologies.
The Secretary manages officer meetings and critical documents. They may also hold another officer position if they choose to do so. This role is great for those with organization skills and looking for experience with leading a team of officers.
The Treasurer assists with and monitors all finances. They may also hold another officer position if they choose to do so. This role is great for those looking for experience with managing an organization's revenue and demand.
The community committee has a strong focus on outreach and events for UTDesign Makerspace. Members host outreach events in the Student Union and other locations at the UT Dallas campus as well as participate in larger tabling events, such as Cometville and other student organization fairs. They are also tasked with creating and hosting events at UTDesign Makerspace, such as workshops or collaborative build nights with other student organizations.

The Club Ambassador oversees outreach events at the Student Union and elsewhere. This role is great for those wanting to help grow UTDesign Makerspace and be credited for doing so.
The Events Lead oversees planning and execution of UTDesign Makerspace events. This role is great for people with creative ideas who are looking for experience planning fun and interesting events.
The facilities committee oversees the physical wellbeing of UTDesign Makerspace's various tools and rooms. Members interested in operations will routinely ensure that tables are placed where they should be, stations are cleaned, and people are treating our rooms with the respect they deserve. Maintenance jobs include working on and upgrading our various technologies, from our 3D printers to our soldering stations.

The Maintenance Lead oversees the maintenance of our equipment. This role is great for those with a keen eye who want to learn a lot of new technology.
The Operations Lead oversees the general wellbeing of our rooms. This role is great for those who want to ensure students are able to rely on the makerspace and have experience managing a large engineering facility.
The IT committee is in charge of maintaining and expanding UTDesign Makerspace digital services. Development teams work on internal systems like our Discord bot, website, and Marlin firmware for 3D printers. The Systems Administrator will also task committee members with basic IT tasks, such as assisting members with lost passwords, bringing offline services back online, and managing our many computers so our members can use them easily.

The Development Lead oversees developing new technologies internally to assist our members. This role is great for those who want to develop open-source software that will be used for years to come by many UT Dallas students.
The Systems Administrator oversees managing externally-developed technologies. This role is great for those who want to ensure students are able to rely on the makerspace and have experience managing the software for a large engineering facility.
The marketing committee maintains our digital presence to ensure all students, faculty, staff, and alumni of The University of Texas at Dallas understand what UTDesign Makerspace is and how it can be beneficial to them. Designers work on creating a brand that we use across our websites, merchandise, and more. Artists use established designs to create artwork for online platforms and merchandise. The Social Media Lead advertises any major announcements from other committees and keeps our online presence active and effective.

The Art Lead oversees the creation of artwork to be used by UTDesign Makerspace. This role is great for artists looking to add to their portfolio and increase their exposure.
The Design Lead oversees the established UTDesign Makerspace brand and creating general advertising material. This role is great for those who want to create an established brand for their portfolio and work on a variety of themed advertisements.
The Social Media Lead oversees UTDesign Makerspace social media. This role is great for those who want to gain experience in public relations and advertising for an organization.
Faculty advisors directly assist UTDesign Makerspace by helping our members when we are unavailable and acting as a liaison to UT Dallas and UTDesign administration.
